Kick Off a Super Day with an Epic Run on the 101
Virtual and "In-Person" Virtual
 February 7th, 2021

The Kook Run is now a Virtual and

In-Person Virtual Event in 2021!

Join us the morning of the BIG GAME as we partner with The Lumberyard to set up a check-in area and an unofficial start/ finish arch, with photo ops. The staging area will serve as an area for runners to start their virtual run.  Run the event course as part of your Virtual run or walk!

Can't join us in Encinitas on the 7th? No problem. Participate in the Kook Run virtually on your own time, at your own pace, in a location that works for you. Mail-out packets are available.

Let your Inner Kook or Football Fan shine in this year's Costume Contest.  We welcome your costumes "Virtually" or "In-Person", and want to see how crazy they can be. We will award prizes to the top 3 costumes in the Biggest Football Fan, Individual, and Group costume divisions.

You asked for got it.

Run your Virtual Run or Walk your "Kooky" 10K/5K on your all-time favorite course on the day it's meant to be run...

Super Bowl Sunday!

Now come experience the best race-day atmosphere at the only "In Person" Virtual event in Southern California.

About "The Kook"

(Officially "The Magic Carpet Ride")

The Cardiff Kook is a landmark along State Coast Highway 101 in the Cardiff By The Sea neighborhood of Encinitas. The nickname comes from the statue’s infamous pose: one that local surfers tease makes him look like a “kook”. It is frequently adorned with various decorations or completely decked out in costumes

to fit the occasion.

Stop by to see it on your way to enjoy our beautiful Encinitas beaches or if you’re camping at the nearby San Elijo State Beach Campground.
